City Dedicates New Creek Trail Bridges

Within two weeks pedestrian and cyclists in Mountain View got two highway overpasses that connect the entire city.

Whether you walk or ride, the City of Mountain has made it easier for you to get around.

The dedications of the Permanente Creek Trail bridge on June 12 and the Stevens Creek Trail bridge on June 23 now connect areas once separate by two different highways. Now pedestrians and cyclists can safely get across the city with less concern for vehicular traffic.

"Being a biker, a runner, a hiker and being an environmentalist, I think this is great," said Jere Schaefer, a resident of the St. Francis Acres neighborhood, as she crossed the Permanente Creek Trail for the first time.

The Permanente Creek Trail bridge connects North Bayshore over highway 101 through a tunnel that goes below Old Middlefield Road to the Rock Street area. This delighted George Barooni, owner of , because now it's easier for cyclists and pedestrians to actual notice his store.

"It's a beautiful, we are happy," said Baroonii. "I think it would help business."

The Stevens Creek Trail bridge extension connects the neighborhoods of North Waverly Park and Cuernavaca with a pass over highway 85.
