Getting Out: What To Do Around Mountain View This Weekend

It's finally Friday and time for a break from weekday school, work or other obligations. If you're looking for fun and interesting things to do over the weekend in and around Mountain View, check out our picks:

 

  1. ‘TIME STANDS STILL’

    Where/When: TheatreWorks, Mountain View Center For The Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View; Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 7 p.m. Continues through Sept. 16.

    Why go: A chance to see the regional premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies’ drama “Time Stand Still” which follows a thrill-seeking photojournalist and her foreign correspondent lover after they return from a harrowing stint covering a war.

    Price: $31 to $73.


  2. LINKIN PARK

    Where/When: Shoreline Amphitheatre, 1 Amphitheatre Parkway; Friday at 6:30 p.m.

    Why go: Experience original music with an alternative metal, hip-hop and modern rock spin from this popular band which has been performing nationwide since the 1990s.

  3. MOUNTAIN VIEW ART & WINE FESTIVAL

    Where/When: Castro Street between El Camino Real and Evelyn Avenue; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Why go: Shop and enjoy fine arts, jewelry, and unique clothing from more than 600 craftspeople. Taste a variety of local and regional wines, and dance to live music in the streets. The event also includes children’s activities, garden exhibits and health and wellness displays. 650-968-8378.

  4. OUTRIGGER COMMUNITY DAYS

    Where/When: 3160 N. Shoreline Blvd.; Saturday at 10 a.m.

    Why go: Shoreline Lake's Aquatic Center is now home to Ho’oku’i (Hawaiian for "to join together”), the Bay Area's newest outrigger canoe club. Visitors on Saturday will have an opportunity to see, and be part of, a six-person outrigger crew driving a 400 pound, 45-foot long, 20-24 inch wide sleek canoe, by paddling at 64-68 strokes per minute as one powerful and gracefully precise unit.

  5. FARMERS’ MARKET

    Where/When: Caltrain Station, 600 W. Evelyn Ave., Mountain View; Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Why go: Wide selection of locally-grown fresh seasonal vegetables, pesto, honey, baked goods, eggs and meats. 800-806-3286.

    Price: Free.
