Thief Attempts Robbery, Almost Gets Pooch's Poop

Someone almost ran off with a smelly surprise.

A man ran up behind a dog walker Monday and tried to snatch her plastic shopping bag—which contained the dog's feces!

According to the Mountain View Police Department, the incident occurred on Apr. 16 at 9:30 p.m. on the 2000 block of Central Expressway.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman walked her large dog when an unknown man allegedly attempted to grab the plastic shopping bag she was carrying away from her, department Spokeswoman Liz Wylie shared.

However, the bag and the dog's leash "were both looped over her hand, making it difficult for the suspect to get control of the bag," Wylie said.

The victim told police that the dog bit the suspect’s pant leg, possibly without actually biting the man's skin, noted Wylie. The man then fled eastbound on Central Expressway.

Described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches, the man wore a black hooded sweatshirt with dark pants. The victim didn't see the man's face and could not provide any more info about him.

"We were not called until almost 45 min after it happened," Wylie said. "Needless to say, we did not find a suspect."
