AFS in the SF Bay Area is recruiting supportive, local families to host exchange students this fall

Imagine you could add another member to your family. A person who has lived in another country. A person who speaks another language. A person who sees the world in a different way than you. A person who wants to be your new brother or sister.

Develop a lifelong connection with an international high school student from one of ninety countries. Students will arrive this August for the school year.  Prime time to apply is now.  Past hosts say, ""This parenting thing is pretty fun. He's such a great kid… We are sad to see him go." "Her incentive to "share" what she has learned with her own country and community has also had a transforming effect on us, her American family. We have also been given "new eyes to see" the world! The gratitude (and love!) goes both ways."

Exchange students will arrive this August from more than 90 countries. Many still need supportive host families.  Could you be one of them?

One former exchange student wrote:  "I'm a different person now. I want with all my heart to be able to stay here, but there's something special about being an exchange student and there is a kind of magic in knowing you have a year and only a year in a certain place. It gives one a new perspective on life. The hard times are extremely hard, yes, but the good times and SO AMAZINGLY GOOD."

Redefine what it means to be a family by hosting an AFS Exchange Student. To find out more about hosting an AFS exchange student, just submit an interest form here http://www.afsusa.org/host-family/apply/  so a local AFS volunteer can contact you.
