Sunnyvale Main Post Office Moving to New Location on June 2

The Sunnyvale Main Post Office will cease operations at its current leased location (580 N. Mary Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94088) on June 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. and all retail and P.O. Box operations will move to a new location at 209 E. Java Drive, Sunnyvale, CA. The new E. Java location will be open for business on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

“This relocation will not impact any customer’s P.O. Box number or size of the box and there will be no ZIP Code change said Sunnyvale Postmaster John Silverberg.  “Aside from the new location, this move will be transparent to our customers and will have no impact on mail delivery by letter carriers to businesses and residents.”

In order to facilitate the move, P.O. Box mail will not be accessible from 12 noon, June 2, 2012 to 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012. Customers should note the following additional important Information:

  • If a customer needs their P.O. Box mail the weekend of the move it must be retrieved from the 580 N Mary Ave. location prior to 12 noon, Saturday, June 2, 2012.
  • Any mail not retrieved prior to the move will be transported and placed in the customers P.O. Box at the 209 East Java Drive location and will be available after 8:30 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2012.
  • After 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 customers must go to the 209 East Java Drive location to retrieve their P.O. Box mail.

Additionally, customers in the following ZIP Codes should note the changes in where they will pick up vacation hold mail and mail for which they have been left a notice:

  • Effective May 21, 2012, customers in ZIP Code 94085 will pick up vacation hold and notice left mail at Encinal Station, 526 W Freemont Ave., Sunnyvale.
  • Effective June 4, 2012, customers in ZIP Codes 94086 and 94089 will pick up vacation hold and notice left mail at the new Main Post Office on E. Java Drive
  • Effective June 4, 2012, customers in ZIP Code 94087 will pick up vacation hold mail at the Main Post Office on E. Java and will continue to pick up notice left mail at the Encinal Station.

“Our new Sunnyvale Main Post Office on E. Java Drive will provide the Sunnyvale community a modern, attractive retail facility,” Silverberg said.

My heart goes out to his family. I'm really saddened that the person who hit him is going to haveRead More to deal with guilty feelings/horrible memories from this, even though it was 0% his fault. If someone wants to take their own life, then that's terribly sad, but I think it's especially terrible to involve or potentially involve someone else in the process.
