Victim of Neglect Needs Our Help

UPDATE:  Walter had a successful surgery on his right hock (ankle).  He will recover over the next 8-weeks with weekly check-ups, new casts, & x-rays to assess his healing.  Once healed, he will have a 2nd surgery - this time for his left hock, followed by the same 8 week recovery.  THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to his medical bills, and has sent good thoughts & prayers.  For further updates on Walter, please visit the Facebook page for Maine Coon Adoptions, at www.Facebook.com/MaineCoonAdoptions

Update:  Walter's surgery is scheduled for July 25.  There has been an outpouring of support for Walter.  Thank you to everyone who has donated toward his medical expenses.  If we are fortunate enough to reach our goal, any extra donations will go toward our mission of rescuing abused, abandoned, surrendered and homeless cats, and finding loving, carefully-screened, adoptive homes for them. We are all volunteer, with no paid staff, and so every penny we receive goes directly toward helping cats. We are Maine Coon Adoptions, and are the adoption division of Preventing Euthanasia Through Rescue (PET Rescue), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Tax ID 27-0225418.  Donations are tax deductible.  Thank you.

Walter was surrendered by a family that was "downsizing".  Barely able to walk, a vet exam revealed he suffered from 2 badly broken hocks (back ankles) from suspected cruelty and definite neglect.  His rescuer's, Maine Coon Adoptions in Oakland, have been given the options of a costly surgery or euthanasia, and are desperately trying to raise the funds to afford the 1st option.  Walter is currently on restricted exercise & movement, but he’s in good spirits & he loves being adored.  Walter will be available for adoption once he's recovered.  Can you please help us help Walter?  Every dollar will help, and no donation is too small.  Please share Walter's story with those you know.  He needs our help now.  Thank you.   To donate:  http://www.youcaring.com/pet-expenses/walter-s-broken-hocks/73545
