A Creperie Opens on Castro Street

Crepevine, a family-owned business, opens its 11th Bay Area location in a city the Fakhouri brothers highly desired.

Don't let the name fool you—there're more than just crepes at Crepevine.

Opened since Tuesday, Oct. 30, the new restaurant located at 300 Castro St., and Dana Street, serves a variety of different types of foods from sandwiches, soups and salads, to of course sweet and savory crepes.

The family-owned business is the 11th in the Bay Area for the Fakhouri brothers—Majed, Mazen and Maher. Crepevine replaces Ristorante Bellavita, from whom Majed Fakhouri said they purchased the lease from.

"We been seeking this neighborhood for six to seven years," said Majed. "We felt it fit our style and wanted to be a part of it. We were seeking the right location."

According to Fakhouri, the brothers developed the concept for the internationally-themed menu 17 years ago. There are food options from the cuisines of Greece, Italy, Japan, India, Thailand and United States. "It turned out to be a winner," he said.

"It's designed to give you quantity and quality for a fair price," Fakhouri said of the fish, pasta and steak dishes. At Crepevine they also make their own sauces and vinagrettes.

"Who said Italians had the monopoly on vinagrettes?" said Fakhouri, who's of Jordanian descent.

Fakhouri looks forward to serving a Mountain View crowd and has even made many outlets available for people to work at the restaurant. He noted the full espresso bar, desserts, and even the availability of beer and wine.

"I'd like this to become a destination for the neighborhood, a place where people can gather, meet and have a good meal," he said.
