Be a Dear Bra Drive a Success

The local non-profit teamed up with Campbell lingerie boutique and collected 834 bras for women in shelters.

After a month of collecting brassieres for women in need, Be a Dear, Donate a Brassiere and surpassed their goal of 500 bras, by 334.

"It was an amazing response from our community," says Dutchess owner Melanie Starr.

The Mountain View-based organization and Campbell boutique in the month of October to collect the undergarments for women in need.

Willow Glen small business It's a Girl Thing also joined in and collected nearly 60 brassieres for the drive.

Wednesday night Starr delivered the donations last night to Be a Dear.

"She was blown away," Starr says. "She said that this was the single largest bra donation ever."

The bras were collected from the two locations and then sorted into plastic bags, 50 bras to a bag to be distributed to various local women's shelters, including Innvision and Career Closet.

"We are most likely doing it again next October," Starr says.
