Big-Rig Collision Snarls Mid-Day Mountain View Traffic

Peninsula commuters slowly made their way into the South Bay while CHP worked with crews to remove the hazards from the road.

Hope no one was late getting to the polls this Election Day due to traffic in Mountain View.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a faltbed trailer was jack-knifed by a dumptruck on southbound Highway 101 just south of the Rengstorff Street exit around 12:43 p.m.

There appeared to be no injuries.

The flatbed big-rig was pulling a lift, which then became wedged beneath the flatbed. Mountain View Patch observed how a backhoe/bulldozer truck was brought in to remove the shoulder barriers so that the flatbed could be moved onto the shoulder.

It successfully did so around 1:44 p.m., almost an hour after the first calls came into CHP.

The flatbed had blocked the two right lanes of traffic and slowed traffic as far north as Embarcadero, according to KCBS.
