Frugal Family: Deals This Week in MV

This column is dedicated to uncovering the five best local deals each week to help your family save money. Shopping locally is great for our community and great for us when we uncover fantastic deals at nearby stores.

This week, we've found savings on coffee, groceries, clothing, home goods, professional organizing and movie tickets.

1.  Deal: A not-for-profit coffee shop? Believe it. Red Rock donates all profits not needed to run the cafe to other nonprofit and charity groups, so its prices are reasonable. Have your cake and coffee and eat it, too. Good through: Ongoing.

2. Piazza's Fine Foods Deal: Just over the border from Mountain View in Palo Alto, Piazza's offers great weekly deals, like 99¢ Fuji apples and $6.99 per pound Chateaubriand steaks. Good Through: Ongoing.

3. Deal: This reporter's grandmother used to get everything at Marshalls, and, indeed, the store consistently offers great deals on name-brand clothing and home goods. The Mountain View store happens to be a shoe "mega store," so happy shopping. Good Through: Ongoing.

4. The Time Butler Professional Organizers Deal: 25 percent off organizing services for sessions booked from May 1 through Aug. 1 with Lisa Mark, a certified professional organizer with more than seven years of experience. Good Through: Aug. 1, but sessions are filling up fast.

5.  Deal: Get a free movie ticket from Fandango when you choose from a selection of offers. Good Through: Ongoing.
