Get Out! Five Things To Do This Weekend

The arts take top priority this week in Mountain View.

Close to home, there are art openings, plays, lectures and more. Check out what's happening in and around Mountain View this weekend, and don't forget to add your own suggestions in the comments section below.

  1. Spend Thursday enjoying musical excerpts and conversation with , a cello, piano and violin trio, from 6-7 p.m. at the , 230 San Antonio Cir. Trio Voce is known for its "ability to make the written music come alive.” This event is part of the Stanford Lively Arts "Informance" series at CSMA. The public is invited to attend this free event that is funded in part by a grant from Arts Council Silicon Valley. For more information, visit the event site or call 650-917-6800. 
  2. Save Friday afternoon for the opening reception of "An Observer's Notebook,"  at the City Hall Rotunda, 500 Castro St., from 3-6 p.m. This event is sponsored by the . Students from local public and private schools (many from MV) will have works on display, along with work by the CSMA Art4Schools faculty members. This exhibit runs through March 28.
  3. If your Saturday night could use some "indie-jazz-soul-rock-poetry" flavor, then check out artists-in-residence, , at . Dogcatcher performs from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday at downtown Mountain View’s only not-for-profit cafe. Contact Red Rock at 650-967-4473 or visit redrockcoffee.org.
  4. Saturday is also opening night for at the , 500 Castro St. With music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, Annie Get Your Gun is ranked among the great Broadway musicals of all time. This production is directed by Meg Fischer, with musical direction by Chris Nielson and choreography by Dan Hurst. Tickets ($7-$20) are available at, and may also be ordered through, the Mountain View Center ticket office. The ticket office is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and one hour prior to every ticketed performance
  5. MV teens may want to check out the at the , South Rengstorff Avenue and Central Expressway, on Monday from 4:30-6 p.m. Made up of middle school and high school students representing Mountain View teens in local government, YAC was formed to “increase the level of civic engagement of youth” and provides the committee with an opportunity to work directly with the Council Youth Services Committee as well as advising the city’s  adults concerning teen issues.
