Get Out! Last Thursday Night Live, Film Festival and Chinese Dance as Hip Hop

If you don't want to drive, walk or bike to these events in Mountain VIew this weekend.

1. Thursday Night Live

Don’t forget to head downtown tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. to check out the last event for the summer. Castro Street will be closed to traffic so you can walk the street and enjoy the live music, a farmers market and custom, classic cars shown-off by their proud owners. Don't be surprised if you find yourself dancing to the live music of The Groove Kings from 6:30 pm to 8 p.m.

2. Calling Arthouse Film Aficionados

After inviting local filmmakers to submit a 10 minute film loosely based on the theme of community, now invites everyone to their 2nd Annual Film Festival this Friday, Aug. 19 on the 2nd Fl. Prizes will be awarded so come cheer for your favorites.

3. Just Dance!

On Friday and Saturday nights, the hosts social dancing nights for dancers of all levels. Stop be anytime between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. and cha-cha your way across their ballroom. On Friday, admissions is $14 before 11 p.m., $12 after. On Saturdays, it's $12 before 11 p.m., and $10 after.

4. The Art of Culture.

Spend an afternoon in the park, Saturday, from 12 to 4 p.m. Explore Chinese-American culture through Hip Hop, Tai Chi, Martial Arts, and drumming lessons offered throughout the afternoon by company dancers and musicians. Children of all ages can create Chinese fans and decorate Chinese notebooks at the Arts and Crafts table. Located at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, Park Stage, 500 Castro St. Cost is free.
