Get Out! Things To Do April 14-20

Notable authors sign their books during the day, and entertainment hotspots rule the night.

Time to get new books for the book club! A children's book author and Pulitzer Prize-winning one will visit Mountain View Saturday to read and sign their books for fans. Also, the night life lights up with dancing and lots of karaoke! There's always something happening in and around Mountain View to keep you busy.   1. As a special treat for local residents, the Commonwealth Club of California-Silicon Valley will host a , chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on April 14 from 7-8 p.m. Genachowski will discuss what is in store for the communications industry.   2. Get an early start on your weekend by heading to Zen Lounge (251 Castro St.), which “fuses traditional Asian style with all that is hip and modern.” Every Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Zen Lounge features guest DJs spinning hip hop and Top 40, all with no cover charge (excluding special performances).   4. Spend Saturday afternoon with a signing of the children’s book, GiGi The Funny Little Dog, at , complete with the author and the book’s title pooch.   5. Adults have the chance to . The author will be featured during the Los Altos/Mountain View Branch of the American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) Annual Authors Luncheon, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Michaels at Shoreline, 2960 N. Shoreline Blvd. Tickets for this event are $40, with proceeds benefiting the AAUW’s Educational Opportunities Fund, which provides fellowships and other resources for women.
