Grab and Go Kids Planner for March 9-13

Spend Saturday night at the teen open gym; take another look at poop—yes, you read this right; attend two youth theater musicals; spend a day at San Jose State for young women thinking about being engineers!

Wondering what you can do with your kids this week that will be fun for them and for you! We've got a couple of ideas here that will expose your kids to the world of books, a few science adventures and more. 

We've done the research, we've done your homework and we're ready to give you our suggestions for some activities you can do for and with your child this week.

Where/When: , 500 Castro St., Mountain View.  Thursday, 9:30 a.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m.

Why Go: It's the last weekend before the show closes, so get out there and support and see a fantastic performance of Annie Get Your Gun in the town you call home. Your kids will enjoy it, and so will you.

Where/When: Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Rd. Saturday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you are a Mountain View middle school or high school student this is the place for you to be Saturday night. This Saturday night or any Saturday night. It's your night at the gym. All you need to get in is your school ID. It's a good chance to play sports, work out and burn off some energy—and socialize with your friends.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: , 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Support the youth theater group of neighboring Los Altos. See its young people perform and applaud their efforts. See the play about the stories every child (and every adult) has grown up with.

Pricing: $15 for adults; $10 students, youth and seniors

Where/When: San Jose State University, with the Student Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Saturday, 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.

Why Go:  This is a day-long event for high school girls and their parents. It's for young women who might be interested in a career in engineering. Go and find out if engineering might be right for you. As a parent you can encourage your daughter to dream and succeed! You'll get to tour the School of Engineering, meet with university students who are already on their way and more.

Pricing:  $6

Where/When: , 26870 Moody Rd., Los Altos Hills. Saturday, 3-4:15 p.m. 

Why Go: How can you resist a class with a name like that? You'll learn a lot about poop and how it can help gardening—and so will your preschooler. Everyone gets to take home a planter with a seedling that they can see grow in a garden at home.

Pricing: $20 for first adult and child, $8 for each additional adult or child.
