Grab and Go Kids Planner: MVHS Girls Volleyball, a Renaissance Faire and More

Children's storytime at Books Inc., a Furry Friends Adoption event and a Saturday afternoon Los Altos High football game.

Where/When: , 3535 Truman Ave, Mountain View, CA. Thursday, 5:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Perennial Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division powers and Palo alto High square off this Thursday night for the first time in 2011. The match is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the junior varsity match. The varsity game will follow. Mountain View, led by head coach Jason Trip, is currently 5-5 overall after competing in the Westmont Tournament in Campbell over the weekend. Palo Alto, the defending CIF Division I State champion, is off to another torrid start this fall. The Vikings are 11-2 overall, falling twice over the weekend in the loaded field at the Archbishop Mitty Tournament in San Jose. The match is the league opener for both schools.

Where/When: Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy, Hollister, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Join the villagers of Willingtown as they celebrate Bacchanal and the traditional feast of Michelmas. This weekend is a visual treat as garlands and masks are donned by men and women. Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask and/or garland. A beautiful selection of both can be found at the faire, or you may choose to have a mask painted on. Each weekend provides a new adventure an the annual faire. Don't miss out on all the mischief and fun to be had!

Pricing: $25 general admission. $35 for a weekend pass. 

Where/When: , 1010 N Rengstorff Ave, Mountain View, CA. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: The weekly Dog Adoption Showcase. features home fostered dogs rescued from over-crowded shelter. Volunteer foster homes always needed to help save a furry life. Bring the kids and you just might find a new addition to the family.

Where/When: , 301 Castro St, Mountain View, CA. Saturday, 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Tales and Treats Storytime features booksellers Chantal and Lisa as they read 2-3 stories to little ones in attendance. A felt board activity comes in between the stories and an arts and craft activity follows the final story.

Where/When: , 201 Almond Ave, Los Altos, CA. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Still looking for win number one in 2011, the Los Altos High football team hosts Lynbrook High this Saturday at Los Altos High.  Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. in Los Altos. The Eagles fell 34-13 to Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton on Saturday to fall to 0-2 so far this fall. Lynbrook rolled past James Lick 49-6 to improve to 2-1 in non-league play.

Where/When: 180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA. Daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: This museum is especially designed for children and their families. The museum offers a "Step Into the Past'' exhibit where children can learn what life was like when the region was known as the "Valley of the Heart's Delight''.
