High Winds Down Wires in Mountain View

Pacific Gas and Electric expects power to be restored to remaining customers by 2 p.m.

Rain and high winds spread over Mountain View on Sunday night, causing windowpanes to rattle and leaving many without power.

Throughout the evening and into Monday morning, Pacific Gas and Electric crews responded to scattered reports of electrical outages throughout the city, according to spokesman Jason King.

At this time, 34 customers between El Camino Real and Fremont Avenue near or on Grant Road remain without power, King said. PG&E expects to have power restored to them by 2 p.m. This includes the El Camino Hospital area and homes along Bryant, Levin, Eunice, Sleeper and Martins. This outage was caused by the high winds, which downed a wire around 3:50 a.m.
