If No Chick-fil-A, How About a Denny's?

Property owner of the Sizzler lot was also approached by the 24-hour sit-down food restaurant. Would that project have passed muster?

What should go at 1962 W. El Camino Real?

That's currently the location of the Sizzler in Mountain View and could have been the home of Chick-fil-A, before the city council plucked that idea apart on Tuesday.

Property owner Kathy Lin had appealed to the elected officials and the community to give Chick-fil-A a chance because Sizzler didn't want to pay market value rent. She added another interested fact in her statement: Denny's had also shown interest in leasing the 0.74-acre property.

Denny's restaurants don't have drive-throughs, but they are open all night long, seven days a week.

Patch plans to reach out to the property owner to see what their plans could be.

So what do you think? Denny's don't have drive-throughs ... so would that be a better fit for Mountain View? Would you support it?

I don't think a Denny's in that location would do too well. The Denny's in Palo Alto that closed 5 years ago was only 2 miles down the road from there.

Thanks Paul! You've been around longer so you would know, but the Sunnyvale one is still open. Also, the economy was a little worse five years ago. Now, Mountain View has so many young entrepreneurs and programmers who are up all night.

I would think, if it were my backyard, that a drive thru would be less disruptive than a Denny's. they are open all night, attract rowdy teens (I know I'm stereotyping here...) and aren't exactly high class establishments. That being said, it's also not fair to the current property owner the situation she is in.
