Kids Planner: Furry Friends Rescue, St. Francis High Football and More

Lancers football, Step into the Past at the Children's Discovery Museum and more this week in Mountain View.

Where/When: 51 S San Antonio Rd, Los Altos, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: This two-day event features elaborate electric and steam powered train track layouts of model railroads, a station featuring train-themed activities for young children, food vendors, and more. The event is free, but a small donation per family is recommended.

Where/When: 1885 Miramonte Ave, Mountain View, CA. Friday, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The St. Francis High-Mountain View football team hosts Willow Glen High this Friday at 7:30 p.m. After back-to-back heartbreaking defeats to begin the season, the Lancers will have to slow down the high powered Willow Glen offense led by star senior quarterback Mitch Ravizza. St. Francis fell 20-15 to Palma last weekend and dropped a nail biter to Oak Grove a week earlier, 27-25.

Where/When: 1 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA. Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Rascal Flatts brings their country rockin' roots to the Bay Area this weekend at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View.  Sara Evans and Justin Moore will open for the veteran country trio that has been churning out hits for more than a decade.

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $28-76. 

Where/When: 180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA. Daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: This museum is especially designed for children and their families. The museum offers a "Step Into the Past'' exhibit where children can learn what life was like when the region was known as the "Valley of the Heart's Delight''.

Where/When: , 1010 N Rengstorff Ave, Mountain View, CA. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: The weekly Dog Adoption Showcase. features home fostered dogs rescued from over-crowded shelter. Volunteer foster homes always needed to help save a furry life. Bring the kids and you just might find a new addition to the family.
