Mountain View Teens Asked to Name New Center

The City of Mountain View Recreation Division and Youth Advisory Committee has opened the invitation to suggest the future name the Teen Center currently under development located at the Rock Church Property on Escuela Avenue.

Those wishing to submit a possible name are encouraged to submit suggestions by visiting http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NewTeenCenterName. But there is a catch; you have to be a teen.

The city feels that since the center will be for teens, teens should be the ones proposing names.

“We really want to teens to suggest names for their future Teen Center,” wrote Kristine Pardini, Recreation Coordinator.

And no, the city hasn’t lost it’s mind. All submissions will be subject to city naming policy to prevent mischief.

“The City of Mountain View has a policy on naming City Facilities and Parks that we will be following to select the final name,” wrote Pardini. “The City of Mountain View Youth Advisory Committee will be reviewing the name suggestions and selecting five name suggestions that will then be forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Commission to review prior to submitting 2 options to City Council.”

In addition to possibly naming the new center, all submissions will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card to a Mountain View business. The prize will be raffled off to a random person from the survey.

The naming survey will be available July 30 through September 7 and the Youth Advisory Committee will review all name suggestions in early Fall before submitting options to the Parks and Recreation Commission. The date for that meeting has not be set.
