Mountain View's Facebook Community Reacts to Boston Tragedy; Flags to Fly at Half-Staff

Boston is nearly 3,100 miles away from Mountain View, but the events from April 15 have touched people locally.

Especially since 14 residents of Mountain View participated in the historic Boston Marathon.

On Facebook, the Mountain View community responded swiftly with comments of shock, surprise and sympathy:

• City of Mountain View - City Hall In respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on April 15, 2013, in Boston, Massachusetts - City Facilities will have flags flown at half-staff at the White House, per Presidential Declaration, until, April 20, 2013.

• Mountain View Police Department Our thoughts go out to those affected by the tragedy in Boston. If you are looking for friends or loved ones in Boston, using text messages or social media (Twitter or Facebook) are much more effective as voice and cell lines are likely tied up.

• Mountain View Fire Terrible tragedy at the Boston Marathon today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those injured and affected.

• Ava's Downtown Market & Deli Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those injured and affected by the terrible tragedy at the Boston Marathon today. Our hearts are heavy.
