Photo of the Day: It Never Gets Old Meeting an Astronaut

At a first of its kind event at NASA Ames, members of the blind community interacted with planetary and lunar scientists.

Michael Hingson has overcome a lot. Blind since birth he pushed through the challenges of life and eventually received his master's in physics.

But his biggest hurdle occurred on September 11. He had just settled into his desk on the 78th floor of Tower Two, when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into their building. Thanks to his guide dog Roselle, he managed to escape the burning building seconds before its collapse.

Today at , Hingson participated in a panel about the research Centers work with the blind community. However, Hingson was just as excited to meet Astronaut Yvonne Cagle, M.D., as she was to meet him!
