Rain's Back – 'Very Slippery Roadways' Warning

With rain falling across the Bay Area this week the National Weather Service cautions drivers during the first significant rain of the season.

Caution! It's going to be wet—and slippery—on roadways Monday through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast in Mountain View and around the Bay Area calls for the first significant rainfall of the season on Monday and the possibility of further off-and-on showers through Wednesday.

The weather service also warned of dangerous driving conditions beacuse of the "leaching out of long-accumulated oils in the pavement," which can cause cars to slip and slide.

Rainfall accumulation for Monday could be between .25 and .5 inches near the San Francisco Bay shores, the weather service said.

Temperatures will hover in the low 60s and are expected to rise by the weekend to the high 60s low 70s.
