Ja, Bitte! Save the Date for 'Weihnachtsmarkt' in Mountain View

Free event organized by German International School of Silicon Valley.

Mark your calendars for Mountain View's first Weihnachtsmarkt -- an open-air German holiday experience.

The Christmas markets -- outdoor stalls selling egg bread, candied fruits, ornaments and toys -- are a tradition that date back to the 1300s in Bavarian countries.

On Saturday, Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., downtown's Civic Center Plaza will be transformed into a European Weihnachtsmarkt -- also called Christkindlmarkt -- bustling with merchants, food. live music and entertainment for the whole family.

Enjoy the traditional German market delights -- mulled wine, hot cider, roasted nuts, gingerbread, other baked items, plus traditional German food and beer.

For sale will be unique handmade gifts from local artisans, and activities for the kids.

The event is organized by the German International School of Silicon Valley, and admission is free.
