On Christmas Day, kids usually get gifts. But what happens to the kids who don't have stable homes?
's annual Secret Santa Toy Drive has kicked off and each store hopes to collect new and unwrapped toys, from now through Dec. 11, for California's foster children. Also this year, a toy donor could win a Kindle Fire.
"Foster children live in an uncertain world, where moving into a new home can happen anytime, even around the holidays," said Shauna Nuckles, a company spokeswoman. "Often forced to tearfully leave behind their toys, friends and even their clothing, a present on Christmas morning means the world to these kids, who seldom get anything brand new."
Suggested gifts for the children include stacking cups or blocks, ride-on toys, cars and trucks, play kitchen/cooking supplies, electronic learning toys, Legos, fashion accessories, action heroes, board games, sports equipment, movies, music players and headphones, make-up, diaries or journals, multi-ethnic dolls, books, arts and crafts sets.
Gifts can be dropped off at any Sleep Train location, .
Sleep Train also suggests donation drives with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
