VIDEO: Championship Proves Geography's the Future
After the 2011 National Geographic World Championship at Google, the magnitude of the event begins to sink in.
One phrase kept being repeated at the National Geographic World Championship this week: "History is about the past, but geography's about the future."
According to John Fahey, CEO and chairman of the National Geographic Society, through the study of geography, people learn more about the world around them and begin to consider how they interact with one another.
These types of relationships became evident with the youngsters who participated at the 2011 edition of the championship. For them, one of the most important things they did was make friends.
