1st Annual Health Fair Benefiting The ALZ Stars

Today, there are 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and by 2050, as many as 16 million Americans will have the disease. It remains the only cause of death among the top ten in the United States without a way to prevent, cure, or weaken its development. To bring awareness to the mind-robbing illness, ComForcare Home Care of West Santa Clara is sponsoring a community health fair to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association in their first annual ALZ Stars half-marathon event. The free event is open to the public and will take place Saturday, June 25 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at FullForce Fitness located at 1954 Old Middlefield Way in Mountain View.

The ALZ Stars program is challenging athletes to run or walk 13.1 miles in the 2011 San Jose Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon to increase awareness and inspire others to take action in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Jessica Terrill, owner of ComForcare Home Care/ComForcare Senior Services in Mountain View, hopes the health fair will assist the ALZ Stars in reaching their fundraising goal of $30,000.

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude by the level of support shown by the community,” said Terrill. “Dozens of vendors will be at the event donating their time and services.”
