3rd Annual West Coast Disability Pride Parade & Festival

The Silicon Valley Independent Living Center (SVILC) is sponsoring this free celebration, co-organized by the Office of Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese, on Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Downtown Mountain View, California. We welcome all to join our friends, families, allies and partner organizations as the Disability Community gathers to celebrate Disability pride and build a CommUnity of social justice! The event coincides with Disability Pride parades happening around the world in Chicago, Colorado Springs, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Norway, the U.K. and Korea, to name a few.

Parade led by Grand Marshal, Cynthia Waddell: a proud deaf woman who is the author of the first accessible web design standard in the United States, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities built environment/accessible technology expert, President Emerita of the SVILC Board, a former San Jose ADA Compliance Officer, and a brain cancer survivor.
