Peninsula Youth Theatre's "Bye, Bye, Birdie"

Winner of the 1961 Tony Award for best musical, “Bye Bye Birdie’’ takes place in the early days of rock 'n’ roll. The telephone lines in Sweet Apple, Ohio, are burning with the news that rock star and teen idol Conrad Birdie is coming to town for a final concert before his induction into the Army. What’s more, he has chosen one of Sweet Apple’s own to receive his farewell kiss live on national TV. This light-hearted piece of nostalgia features such musical hits as “The Telephone Song,” “I’ve Got a Lot of Living to Do” and “Put on a Happy Face.”
