Get Free Comic Books Saturday in Mountain View

Lee's Comics will have a bonanza of comics to giveaway during this day meant to encourage appreciation for different series and heroes.

If you are a fan of comic books or want to encourage children to read the original form of The Avengers, Spiderman, Batman and more, you'll be happy to hear that Saturday, May 4 is Free Comic Book Day.

Lee Hester, owner of Lee's Comics located inside the Rengstorff Center, shared that "this year, it's bigger than ever."

They'll have a selection of 50 different free comic books and reminds shoppers to arrive early. And special this year is a drawing at 11 a.m. to win all 50 of the free comics, but Hester warns "you must be present to win." Comic Book Day runs from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.

"Who doesn't love comics?" he said.

Free Comic Book Day, created in 2002, always falls on the first Saturday in May. Participating comic book specialty stores across America give away at least one free comic book to anyone who visits their shop that day.

Retailers, publishers, suppliers and distributors work together to make certain comics free in an effort to reward comic book veterans and draw in new fans on this day.
