Take your child to play in Spanish or take a walk around town to get to know the trees; visit a couple of local museums and look ahead next week to a sing-along concert. There our suggestions for this week's Kids Planner:
Where/When: , 585 Franklin St., Mountain View, Saturday, 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Why Go: Get your child thinking (without really thinking) about how much fun it can be to communicate in another language. Susy Dorn, the creator of "Let's Play in Spanish," leads a morning of musical entertainment where your child will be cantando in Spanish.
Where/When: , 51 S. San Antonio Rd., Los Altos; Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Visit the exhibit about the J. Gilbert Smith family, which was key to the development of the Los Altos and Mountain View area. The exhibit is only up for another few weeks, so if you haven't gone with your child yet, this is probably a good time to do something you may have been thinking about doing for a while.
Where/When: 1401 N Shoreline Blvd., Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: It's right here at home and offers a fascinating look at our new reality, the world of computers. You and your children can take a look at computers from the very start. There is also a special exhibit about the history of computer chess, which is definitely worth seeing.
Pricing: General admission $12 to $15; check website for other offers.
Where/When: , Monday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: You won't want to pass this up. A perfect, fun family event. You will be inspired to sing yourself when you listen and in fact, you may have a chance. Part of the program includes director Daniel Steinberg's outreach to all when he will teach the chorus and audience a song.
Where/When: , Mountain View, CA 94041; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Why Go: Get to know your neighborhood in a new way, by getting to know the trees around you. Won't it be fun for your child to identify the trees by name! Certified Arborists will lead walkers through the neighborhood.
