How Will 'The Internship' Affect Google?

The movie starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn hits theaters June 7, 2013.

Red, yellow, blue and green will splattered across billboard this summer as the movie "The Internship" hits movie theaters on June 7th.

The movie centers around two unemployed men Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson who need to retrain for a new career and fortunately, and unusually, land an internship at Mountain View-based Google.

At Google's I/O developer conference Wednesday, co-founder Larry Page said they wanted to make the movie to improve the company's "nerdy curmudgeons" image, especially as they seek to recruit more homegrown computer programmers, Deadline Hollywood reported

However, it's still unclear what how the movie could affect the image of the giant Internet company.

Someone wondered that on the online question and answer forum of Mountain View-based Quora, and overwhelmingly people felt it would "bolster" the company's image.

"I believe that it can only be viewed as a positive," said Marc Schoenen in the Quora discussion, a Googler and extra in the movie from clips filmed at the Googleplex.

With Wilson and Vaughn as actor in the movie, it has crude, "sophomoric" humor, Schoenen explained, but from his colleagues who had viewed the movie he heard that "The movie plays like a 2 hour Google commercial."
