MVHS' Dance Spectrum Honors Tyler Collins

More than 900 people enjoyed the year-end performance by the dance students of Mountain View High at De Anza College's Flint Center of Performing Arts.

The dance community at Mountain View High School paid respects to one of their own during Dance Spectrum, their end of year showcase.

Tyler Collins, a sophomore at UC Santa Cruz and 2011 graduate of MVHS, died unexpectedly from a fall in February and his loss influenced many of the dancers at his alma mater—some who knew him and even some he didn't.

"Every time I watched the piece for Tyler Collins during rehearsals, I got chills," said senior Diana Gong, who has been on Dance Spectrum for three years told the MVHS Oracle.

Collins enjoyed his involvement in Dance Spectrum and as one of the few boys in the group he made his mark. In both his junior and senior years he was voted Most Inspirational Dancer for his class.

In honor of Collins, Dance Spectrum created The Tyler Collins Award. Senior Adam Yeh received it during this its inaugural year.
