Camille and Brianne's feelings about graduating from high school.

Today—OK, actually five minutes ago—we had this realization: We will be graduating from high school in two weeks. TWO WEEKS, AHHHH!!!!!!

So if that's not weird enough, Camille came to my house with nail polish remover and asked for a bow. She wanted to take off her nails from prom, while I slaved away over the computer, trying to type this magnificent blog for all of you lovely readers out there (if there are any—we’re really hoping someone out there wants to read this!).

In the midst of all this, I was distracted with the clicking of Camille’s nails and trying to make this blog witty, so I accidentally made a Freudian slip and texted my boyfriend and told him I loved him, which is awkward, because we are definitely not at that point in our relationship yet. All the while, Camille is lying in my bed, click, click, clicking away at her acrylics. We sound like such teenagers, huh?

But no, really, we are kind of freaking out about this whole graduation thing. It's weird to think how much we’ve changed in the past four years. I mean, we weren’t even friends until we had English last year together, and now the thought of being separated by college seems almost unbearable. OK, well, that’s a tad bit dramatic, but still.

Graduating from high school feels like we’re getting ready to take the training wheels off. All of this schooling, new-found responsibilities, and everything we’ve experienced has all been in preparation for what’s about to come. It’s as if we started playing a game, finally got the hang of it, and were then told, "OK, just kidding. Now we’re ACTUALLY playing.”

It’s daunting to think that we will no longer be living with our parents. Holidays and summer vacations will start dwindling, until we’re too busy to even come home. OK, well, maybe for Christmas. We love Christmas. But now, we are becoming our own responsibility; we’re liable for our actions and mistakes.

As intimidating as this all sounds, we honestly could not be more excited for what’s about to come. You hear that cheesy saying, “You have your whole life ahead of you,” over and over again, but now it all feels so real. College is only the beginning. For the first time, we will be the sole dictator of our actions. We will have full control over where we go, who we let influence us and who we surround ourselves with, and most importantly, who we want to become. While this can be overwhelming, it’s also amazingly exciting. From now on, we will be 100 percent the product of our own creation—and that is pretty freaking awesome.

So, this blog marks the beginning of this new chapter of our lives, and we can’t wait to take all you readers on the journey with us. Thanks for reading our first blog ever!
