Dittmer's Moves Next to Los Altos Village Court

After almost a year since a fire forced its closure, Dittmer's begins construction of new home.


If you "like" Dittmer's Gourmet Meat & Wurst-Haus on Facebook this might be old news to you.

But the German butcher and market, which secured a City of Los Altos business license on Nov. 21, today confirmed that its new home will be at 4540 El Camino Real, right next door to the Village Court shops on San Antonio Road.

They began construction yesterday Dec. 6, and hope to have a grand opening celebration soon.

"We invite you to watch the construction progress through photos on Facebook since the store will be a construction site for the next several months and not for public access," said the status update.

The prior business at the location, a , moved across the street into Mountain View. According to Terranomics' Todd Oliver, the realtor that represented Wells Fargo in the deal, the owner of the site at first attempted to sublease. Instead Dittmer's purchased the site, confirmed their real estate agent Anthony Kamm of Sequoia Realty Services.

Dittmer's has more than 2,800 followers on Facebook who have, throughout the year, left comments of encouragement and shared what they missed most about the shop. With this latest announcement, hungry fans from around the Bay Area, started to rejoice.

"ABOUT TIME!," wrote Dani Daniela Mahler of Sunnyvale. "You have held us hostage from your delicious meats and other items for a year now.... LOL....We are SO EXCITED that something is finally moving forward. YYIIPPPEE!!!! Alles Gute!"
