For Memorial Day Weekend, Gas Prices Dip Below $4

With the unofficial start of summer upon us, a relief at the pump means a relief for the wallet.

Camping gear packed? Check. Travel maps–or GPS–packed? Check. Gas tank filled with below $4 gas? Check.

The rumor that gas prices have steadily dropped can be confirmed in Mountain View with unleaded gas selling for $3.99 yesterday at the Rotten Robbie gas station on the corner of E. Middlefield Road and Whisman Roads.

In California, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the average current price for unleaded gas is $4.066. That's a drop from $4.22 a month ago. In San Francisco unleaded sells today for $4.175 and in San Jose $4.055. So fill up locally!

While the decrease is welcomed, state gas prices continue to be higher compared to the national average of $3.809 for unleaded.

For a list of all gas stations with prices in Mountain View, click here. The only other gas station locally with gas below $4 is the  at 101 E. El Camino Real & Grant Road. But be sure to pay in cash!
