Orchard Supply Hardware to Close 8 California Stores

No news yet on the fate of its Mountain View location.

As part of their bankruptcy restructuring, Orchard Supply Hardware will close its Newark location by the end of the summer.

"We have decided to close some of our stores to help strengthen our Company as a whole," said Mark Baker, president and CEO, of the San Jose-based company which recently announced the acquisition of "no less than" 60 of its 90 stores by Lowe's Companies for $205 million.

The other seven stores scheduled for closure include Citrus Heights, Fairfield, Huntington Beach, Lone Tree, Long Beach, Midtown, Newark and Vacaville.

There's no news yet on the fate of the Mountain View location. According to Newark Patch, Lowe's may decide to acquire the OSH locations where they lack a presence. The closes Lowe's to Mountain View is at 811 East Arques Ave., in Sunnyvale. The only other Lowe's is located in San Bruno. OSH also has a Sunnyvale location at 777 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Rd.

According to OSH, they "we do not anticipate any store conversions at the completion of the sale process," which means that OSH expects to maintain it's brand. The sale process runs 90 days from the Securities and Exchange Commission filing date, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Both OSH and Lowe's are publicly traded companies.
