Startup Stars: Q&A with Crave's Erin Turner

Our new Startup Star profiles explore the playful side of new venture companies—and their people—in Mountain View. We’ll highlight someone from a Mountain View startup and give you some fun facts about them.

Erin Turner is co-founder of Crave, one of the recent startups part of the 500 Startup accelerator program. Turner, and co-founder Kabriel Robichaux, created Crave to help collectors connect, trade, buy and sell the things they love and want. Patch met Turner during the first on Castro Street.

Mountain View Patch: What type of phone do you have?

Erin Turner: I have an Android. Actually, the Google Nexus.

Patch: Are you a Mac or a PC user?

Turner: Mac

Patch: What's your favorite mobile app and why?

Turner: Twitter. With so much happening I find that Twitter is a great way to stay caught up and I only ready it on my phone.

Patch: What's the longest time you've stayed awake working?

Turner: Forty-eight hours. We had our first site launch and stayed up for two days in a row.

Patch: What's you favorite place to go for a hike or sit at a beach?

Turner: I really like Crissy Field in San Francisco. It's actually a beach that faces the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a great place to go on weekends and keep things in perspective.

Patch: Are you a fan of Star Trek or Star Wars?

Turner: Actually, I'm hooked on Game of Thrones.

Patch: If you could have any superhero power, what would it be?

Turner: I like Green Lantern and his power about overcoming fear. When you are in a startup, you have to overcome fear all the time. Dealing with so many challenges in a startup you have to become fearless.

Patch: What has you favorite company outing or event been?

Turner: We did a night market with other e-commerce sites organized by Thumbtack. It was packed with people.

What's Crave anyways?: "Crave is a social marketplace for fans by fans. We developed Crave to make it fun and easy for collectors to find what's on their want list. Unlike other fansites and marketplaces, fans can browse a complete catalog and build their want list. Then we do the work of connecting buyers with sellers who have what they want."
