Tuesday Factoid: Richest Americans Live Right Next Door

These billionaires may live in Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto, Atherton and Woodside, but when they get into their cars its Mountain View they call their headquarters.

The latest Forbes 400 for 2013 published on Monday and it lists 45 billionaires in the Peninsula—but none in Mountain View.

Atherton, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and Woodside can boast one among their residents.

However, Mountain View still has a lot to be proud about because it's here that many come to work.

Google Co-Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin came in Nos. 13 ($24.9 billion) and 14 ($24.4 billion) respectively. Former Google CEO and now Chairman of the Board of Directors Eric Schmidt came in at No. 49 ($8.3 billion).

Other sort-of Mountain View billionaires? LinkedIn Co-founder Reid Hoffman nets $4.4 billion and made the list at No. 103. Intuit's Scott Cook, 61, whose modest net worth of $1.55 billion, made him No. 350 in the United States.
