The year 2011 has presented a host of natural and man-induced emergency situations: earthquakes, tsunamis, fire, flood and large scale blackouts.

Mountain View and the surrounding communities in Santa Clara and San Maeto Counties have an emergency response network designed to deploy first responders to the right place with the right staff and equipment.

The truth is, however, that in a large scale disaster–like a major earthquake–it will be impossible for first responders to attend to every individual building, structure and home that has been effected. That means each of us needs to have a good idea how to take care of ourselves and our families.
