Thank God for 'The Center'

At the Day Worker Center, different countries are represented.

A few months ago there were only Latinos, but at this place we have the fortune of receiving all that come, and now there are white, Asian, and black people waiting for work too. We all have certain work skills.

At the Day Worker Center we always try to make sure that the people who hire us are satisfied by the work we do in their homes. At the center there are activities like cardio, or classes for people who can’t read or write. Volunteers generously donate their time for all of us. Thank God for these kind of people, sometimes it is easy to do thing because we receive something in return, but when you don’t receive anything it’s not as easy as we think.

For example, there is our gym teacher, who arrives early at the center for her classes, and she does it because she has a passion for it and others, she likes what she does, and is dedicated to her work. A thank you to her for the time she gives us. We also have the literacy teacher, who also gets up early to be with us. After she finishes the class she teaches us self-defense. Like all the volunteers who come here, they do what they do because they enjoy it.

En el Day Worker Center, hay gente representando diferentes países.

Hace unos meses atrás solo éramos latinos, pero como en este lugar tenemos la fortuna de recibir a todo el que viene, ahora tenemos, blancos, asiáticos y morenos, esperando trabajar como todos. Todos tenemos cierto tipo de destrezas para el trabajo.

En el Day Worker Center siempre tratamos de que la persona que nos contratan queden satisfechos por el trabajo que realizamos en sus casas. En el centro hay actividades tales como, ejercicios de cardio. Enseñanza pera las personas que no pueden leer y escribir. Voluntarios que generosamente donan su tiempo para todos nosotros, gracias a Dios por esa clase de personas, a veces es fácil hacer las cosas porque recibimos algo a cambio, pero cuando no recibes nada no es tan fácil como pensamos.

Como la maestra de gimnasia, que llega temprano al centro para sus clases, y lo hace porque tiene pasión por los demás, le gusta lo que hace, pienso que la apasiona, es dedicada a su labor, gracias por su tiempo que nos da. También tenemos a la maestra de alfabetización que también se levanta muy temprano para estar con nosotros y después de terminar su clase nos enseña defensa personal, y también como todos los voluntarios que vienen a este lugar lo hace porque les gusta su labor.
