CFO Borgstrom Picked as Interim-CEO at El Camino Hospital

Committee continues national search in the hopes of having new chief executive by fall.

The board of directors of Thursday named Ned Borgstrom as the interim chief executive officer to start on July 1, after Ken Graham's departure.

Graham, asked by the hospital board to resign in February, will continue with full authority as CEO through June 30 to help in the transition.

Borgstrom, who is the hospital's chief financial officer, will continue in both capacities until a permanent CEO is hired by fall. His experience ranges from executive level work with Kaiser Permanente in California, Exempla Healthcare in Colorado and Virginia Mason Medical Center in Washington state.

“Ned’s rich background overseeing finances and administration for large health systems and medical centers makes him well-suited for the role of interim CEO,” said John Zoglin, chairman of the board of directors. “He is already familiar with our operations and he has previous CEO experience.”

According to a statement from the hospital, a national search for a permanent CEO is under way. The board has selected a nine-person search committee led by executive search firm of Russell Reynolds, San Francisco.
