In The News: SETI's Connection to Pluto, Summer Reading and Trucks on Fire

Because so much more happens in the city of Mountain View than we can cover!

A lot happens in Mountain View. A lot. The city of approximately 75,000 people increases to more than 100,000 in the daytime, when people come from other Bay Area cities to work.

On weekends, attractions like Shoreline Amphitheatre, the Center for the Performing Arts and the hundreds of restaurants in the city serve as great day trips.

With so much going on and a lot of media attention focused on Mountain View, we decided to help you sort through it and compile some of the top news stories for you in one place. Feel free to add links of stuff we may have missed in the comment section below.

  • Did you know that Pluto has another moon? Four in total? That's what scientists at NASA and the SETI Institute found using the Hubble Space Telescope. The moon will be called P4.
  • Are you in a book club? Or are you the type that can't commit? Well, join the residents of Mountain View as they all attempt to read the same book in the month of November. Here's what the Los Altos Town Crier wrote.
  • A new swim school opened up in Mountain View and the Los Altos Town Crier was there to cover it. The Flying Fish school, located at 280 Polaris Avenue, is the third in the Bay Area and was originally in Sunnyvale for the company that has served more than 1000 people of all ages.

CORRECTION: A change was made to the name of the swimming school, from "Fly Fishing" to "Flying Fish."
