Last City Council Session Today Before Break

On the agenda, Google's bridge request, updates to development, labor negotiations and parking downtown.

Expect another long council session Tuesday night.

Discussions during the study session, which starts at 4 p.m., include:

  • Council members will hear about a joint venture proposal between Google and NASA Ames to build a private bridge crossing over Stevens Creek Trail at Charleston Road. The bridge would connect the Googleplex to the campus the Mountain View company plans to build in in the Bay View area of Moffett Field.
  • City staff will update the council about the wireless telecommunication towers in Mountain View and will look for guidance on how to work with telecommunications providers interested in erecting towers in the city.

At the regular session, which starts at 7 p.m. after more closed session negotiations with the city's labor unions, some of the consent calendar—items that can be collectively approved by one swift vote unless pulled for further discussion—include:

  • Traffic improvement projects
  • Downtown signage project
  • Warning lights and radar speed checks on Showers Drive and Latham Avenue
  • Appointments to Youth Advisory Council
  • Traffic light improvements

Under new business:

  • Rental housing impact work plan
  • Downtown Parking Study
  • Consideration of Mountain View's Mayor's Recognition Award
