Monday, June 13

The Mountain View Whisman School District (MVWSD) had more students enrolled in school this past year that suffered from chronic illnesses, according to the district’s Head Nurse Sue Barrie.

Stephanie Castor took over as manager of the Cheryl Burke Dance studio last week after outgoing manager Lindsay Morris decided to go back to full-time dance instruction.

Tuesday, June 14

A man robbed a woman of her purse on the 500 block of Escuela in the early morning hours on Monday, the police department reported today. The 22-year-old victim sustained a minor laceration to her lip and didn't seek medical attention.

Wednesday, June 15

The Mountain View City Council adopted the 2011-12, $90.7 million budget for the General Operating Fund, with the exclusion–from the proposed budget–of the complementary ticket facility fee for the Center for the Performing Arts and approved the new $180 million San Antonio Shopping Center project.

The Mountain View City Council's vote on June 14 to approve a $180 million mixed use development to replace the current 16.3 acres on the corner of El Camino Real and San Antonio Road will change the face of Mountain View for the next couple of decades.

Thursday, June 16

As part of the Mountain View-based Google's annual service initiative, GoogleServe, more than 300 volunteers descended upon two elementary schools–Stevenson and Theuerkauf–to help prepare the buildings for the following school year. The effort saved the Mountain View Whisman School District time and between $5,000 and $6,000 in paint and supplies.

Police arrested Honey Margoles for possession of 29 pounds of marijuana with a street value of more than $140,000 after Mountain View Police Department received an anonymous email tip that she sold marijuana from her apartment at 660 Tyrella Ave.

Friday, June 17

Mountain View Police Officers arrested a transient Southern California man who robbed a downtown bank within 25 minutes after they spotted him reading the newspaper at a local Starbucks, the department announced today.
