Monday, July 11

A little known theatre in Mountain View, the Pear Avenue Theatre just closed a very successful two-week run of A Raisin in the Sun. If you missed the show, here's the review.

For the last 30 years, NASA Ames scientists and staff have participated in one way or another in the launches of the space shuttle program. The final flight of the program, which occurred with Atlantis on July 8, gave many the opportunity to reflect on the program, NASA and themselves.

Tuesday, July 12

Jose Antonio Vargas returned to the Bay Area for the first time after his essay in The New York Times revealed that he's been here illegally since the age of 12. He spoke in San Francisco and shared how his life has changed since.

The situation of former Mountain View resident and undocumented journalist Jose Antonio Vargas raises one main issue—the position school administrators and others are put in when they learn that one of the kids they work with has "no papers." Now other states across the country have begun to make it a crime to help people like Vargas.

Wednesday, July 13

Several Mountain View teenagers started a summer soccer camp and five years later they have more than 300 kids. Read about Kick Lead Dream and the relationships they've developed in the community and with the kids.

Fifteen movie screens sold out at Century 16 for opening night ofHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2 and these fans were there for all the fun.

Friday, July 15

If you've never waited hours on opening day for a movie, then you won't have to because Patch contributor Tara Haghighi took one for the team. Before the astronauts on space shuttle Atlantis dialed into NASA Ames on Friday for a press conference they first spoke with the President Barack Obama. Watch the Youtube clip here.
