Sunday, June 19

Monday, June 20

Incidents of aggravated assault and sex crimes increased from 2009 to 2010 on the local bus systems, according to figures obtained from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). Sex crimes on light rail have tripled this year alone. However, the figures based on a two-year average of 33.2 million bus and 10.3 light rail boardings.

Tuesday, June 21

This week's powerful "The Mother Load" column looks at body image. "I waged war against my body for the rest of my childhood and into my young adult life, eventually starving it down to eighty pounds, but still never feeling thin enough," said columnist Autumn Vandiver.

Mandeep Chahal and her mother, Jagdish Kaur, received a last moment stay of deportation attempt. They were scheduled to be on a 1 a.m. Tuesday night flight to India. The case of the Los Altos High School graduate and UC-Davis pre-med honors student was described as a test of the specific guidelines issued Friday by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement director John Morton.

Wednesday, June 22

In a  shocking interview and article, Mountain View High School Class of 2000 graduate Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter for his work on the Virginia Tech Shooting, reveals that he's undocumented.

The Mountain View Police Department arrested a man for possession of a loaded gun, a bat intended as a weapon, methamphetamines and for being under the influence of said methamphetamines, the police department reported Wednesday.

Thursday, June 23

For six weeks, 35 teenagers at Mountain View High School protected Jose Antonio Vargas after he revealed to them his undocumented status.

Saturday, June 25

One Safeway loss prevention officer ended up in the hospital and another with welts after three girls robbed cans of baby formula from the grocer on Thursday. All but one of the suspects fled in a grey SUV, according to Liz Wylie, spokeswoman for the Mountain View Police Department though the MVPD continues to work on their identification.
