Upside-Downton Abbey
The Lamplighters spoof the award-winning British television series Downton Abbey in their much-anticipated Annual Gala. Upside-Downton Abbey, or, The Lass that Loved a Chauffeur
features familiar characters and plot themes from the TV series but with a whole host of comic
twists. This full-length
original parody, set to the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan and others, is a
unique event and a guaranteed afternoon of hilarity. Also featured are a
raffle and a champagne reception
with the costumed cast and crew after the performance.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in period British costume
of the early1900s. Through a special partnership, the Assistance League Costume
Bank (169 State Street at 3rd, Los Altos) will donate a percentage
of rental fees for event-related costumes to Lamplighters Music Theatre, a
nonprofit organization. Gala attendees can take advantage of costumed photo
opportunities with the performers while enjoying a champagne reception and
raffle, along with the evening’s performance. Proceeds from the fundraiser will
support the Lamplighter’s 2013-2014 Season performances and in-school K-12
education program.
