Mountain View Gets Serious About Saving Energy

Mountain View introduces a new home-energy efficiency program, Energy Upgrade Mountain View.

The City has just introduced a new, free program for residents to help us save energy: Energy Upgrade Mountain View, or EUMV. You can read about it at EnergyUpgradeMV.org.

In a nutshell, 1,500 city residents will receive free home energy assessments. EUMV is unique because it takes into account that different homes use energy in different ways. A single person living in an apartment and away most of the day has a much different energy footprint compared to a family with small children living in a house and home most of the day.

But most people can benefit from doing an energy assessment if it's designed for their situation. Mountain View recognized that to help as many residents as possible, it needed an energy efficiency program that addresses the unique needs of different residents, so it developed EUMV.

Check it out. Sign up for your free home energy assessment by creating an account at EnergyUpgradeMV.org. The first thing you'll see, before receiving your assessment, is your Home Energy Profile, showing where all the energy used in your house goes.

How did it come about?  It's due to hard work by a lot of concerned people, and I'll talk about it my next post.
