Hacker Dojo Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A post from Behind the Dojo Desk about our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in February.

The Fairchild Ribbon Cutting/ Grand Opening last month was... a breeze to host, all things considered. In comparison to the Donor Thank You Party back in January, the agenda for this fiesta was much more toned down. There was no need to worry about overly impressing anybody or assuring them that their money was well spent, or anything of that sort. I did buy far too much beer, not enough cheese, and forgot to invite some people until last minute (Brian picked up the slack on that.)

Regardless of those things, the party was a ton of fun and it was beyond exciting to have everyone come in and see the space myself and others had worked so hard on to get ready for opening. Hearing the compliments and all the "oohs" and "ahhs" was also incredibly rewarding; I have never, ever done anything like getting Fairchild up and operating before in my life so it was great to hear a positive response.

Besides hearing all the kind words, it was really amazing to have so many of the different people who contributed to getting us into Fairchild all in one place. Our architect, the realtors who brought us to the space, all the Chamber people who constantly supported us, and of course so many of our wonderful members who spent countless hours at Fix It Days. Having my parents and boyfriend (even though he is a member too) there to share the experience was also pretty special for me.

Alright, enough of my sap for now. Let's look at some pretty pictures from Metro Active taken by one of our new members. I also encourage you to view the entire series (I just chose the Marie-rific ones because hey, it's my blog!)
