Two Weeks with the Mayor: Aug 13 - Aug 26, 2012

The past two weeks from the Mayor's perspective.

The past two weeks have been pretty quiet as the Council recess continues.  Nevertheless, Mocha with the Mayor continues as scheduled and a number of folks showed up at Clocktower Coffee to talk about issues and ask questions.  It was nice to get thanked for positive results from an issue raised at a prior session.  The next "Mocha" will take place this Saturday, September 1 at 10:30 AM at Peets on Castro and I hope to see you there.

The next day the City of Mountain View hosted an interesting meeting on Eco-Districts for the Local Government Commission.  A number of elected officials from neighboring cities came to Mountain View to learn more about a concept that we may see a lot of in the North Bayshore.

Despite the recess, I continue to make corporate visits with our Economic Development team.  This time we visited Cogenra, an intriguing company that has taken solar panels and merged them with hotel water solar panels to generate electricity and hot water that can then be used for heating AND cooling.  The technolgy is very simple and they have developed an Ikea model where everything ships in flat peices and is assembled onsite.  This seems so obvious since PV only uses about 30% of the solar radiation.

The week wrapped up with a meeting of the Chair's of all our City Commission and Committees.  This quarterly meeting is a great update for all involved, and demonstrates once again how much is happening in our city.  We had some interesting discussion with the Visual Arts Chair about an interesting Arts contest for the downtown area.  Hopefully this will develop into a great new event for our City.

Well, that was about it.  Again, hope to see you this Satruday at Peets!

My daughter and I saw the man climbing down the fence and deliberately drop himself down into the onRead More coming traffic! It was a very gruesome thing to see. I would be interested in knowing something about this person. I feel horrible for him and his loved ones.
